Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory, and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way the brain processes pain signals. Women are more likely to develop fibromyalgia than men. Many people who have fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, and depression.

People may experience:

  • Pain Areas: In The Muscles, Abdomen, Back, Or Neck

  • Pain Circumstances: Can Be Chronic, Diffuse, Sharp, Or Severe

Your muscles may feel like they have been overworked or pulled even though you haven’t exercised. Sometimes, your muscles will twitch. Other times they will burn or ache with deep stabbing pain. Some patients with fibromyalgia have pain and achiness around the joints in their neck, shoulders, back, and hips. It’s not easy to diagnose fibromyalgia. This is one disease that doesn’t have many visible signs. Most symptoms of fibromyalgia — including pain, muscle tenderness, and fatigue — are hard to see. … Although fibromyalgia isn’t fatal, it can have serious, lifelong effects.

Treatment:

There is no absolute treatment for fibromyalgia. Treatment rather than Rehabilitation emphasizes self-help. Although certain medications definitely help tide over the breakthrough episode.
