Knee pain is a frequent complaint among adults, and it is generally caused by normal wear and tear from daily activities such as walking, bending, standing, and lifting. Athletes who run or participate in sports that require jumping or quick rotation are more likely to suffer from knee discomfort and issues. Nonetheless, whether caused by aging or accident, knee pain can be inconvenient and even debilitating in some cases. The most common reasons of knee discomfort include age, injury, or repetitive stress on the knee. Sprained or strained ligaments, cartilage tears, tendinitis, and arthritis are all common knee ailments. A layer of cartilage covers each bone end, absorbing shock and protecting the knee. The knee is basically two long leg bones kept together by muscles, ligaments, and tendons. The quadriceps muscles (located on the front of the thighs), which straighten the legs, and the hamstring muscles (placed on the back of the thighs), which bend the leg at the knee, are both engaged in the knee.
